"Classy"

This morning, I was perusing my email when I noticed a piece of mail that covertly crossed from spam to my in-box. I was actually complimenting the senders' ingenuity (how he/she vaulted through my Gmail filtering system), when I became irritated and quite irked.

No, I was not angry in the sender accessing my in-box; I was ticked at the erroneous use of adjectives incorporated through out the letter. I better correct myself here; it was not a bunch of adjectives, but a singular word. It was this...this one word, that totally ruined my reading pleasure.

The email/letter was an advertisement for a vacation/meeting/seminar describing an elegant setting at a hotel. All was fine and dandy until they started using the word, "Classy." This one word just set me off.

I took the advertisement, or should I say the sender's business as an instructive and intrusive attempt at defining "classy." As I delved deeper into this nightmare enticement of a letter, I began to wonder if I was about to be told what was elegant and if I possessed any etiquette. It was like the sender was informing me about what was cultured and worthwhile, because I really will not know what class is all about unless I attend their seminar.

An individuals' perception of class is shaped through aging and his socio-economic background. One cannot affix a "classy" label to a product and make it so.
