Lies Within

When I stare into the mirror each morning, I am faced with the soberin
g reality that I am not the person that my mother and father raised some forty-odd years ago. I have scars on my body that I wonder how they were formed. I have aches in my muscles that I feel I do not deserve. For some reason this is a reassuring conundrum within my twisted fate. I have made many wrong choices in my life, but...just one right choice...one sweet decision that God smiles on makes all of my monumental travesties worthwhile. And, I do make right choices...once in awhile.

"The truth shall set you free," or my favorite, "Are you pursuing the art of truthfulness?" Where does this stuff come from? Everyone's truth is skewed to some degree or another, or should I say their perception. It is true that everyone "desires" to do the right thing, but they get caught up in "other people's perceptions" of them. I mean a person will alter their perceptions to gratify another person that they want to please. I have seen this time and time again, and I have done it once or twice myslef.  I find this to be a load of...crud. There is only one that you cannot lie to and have to be truthful with, no matter what lies within.

What lies within, or should I say what is saturated in one's heart, is placed there from the very inception of birth.  We are born into sin, and we accumulate a sinful armor as we mature."Good things come to those that wait,"and "Patience is a virtue," would be some of the ramblings that a parent may incorporate into their child's psyche. While a parent only desires "good things" for their child, their motives might be suspect if the parents' actions injure their son or daughter in the pursuit of the parents' momentary happiness, (i.e., buying a toy instead of spending time with their offspring, or allowing their child to experience alcohol at a young age, just so they know "how bad it is.") I find these actions to be suspect and are actual "lies" (deception) within people that I have personally observed.

One's heart and pure outlook becomes corrupted through age, family traditions, and poor choices without a focus on Our Lord Jesus Christ. His book says that we are all born into sin, and it is up to us to find our gift from Him. He shed His precious blood to cover all "lies within" and deception that were incorporated into us at inception from the womb and placed into us during our maturity as we traverse the concrete jungles of the world.

Well, what lies within me? Just my decision to declare Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour! I will continue to make mistakes and bad decisions, but with Christ as my lawyer who can dare judge me?

Excellent point! We all have been born into corruption and only through Our Father are we saved. Thank you and Merry Christmas, Kris!
