Instant Idol: American Idol made quick and easy

I remember watching the first American Idol a few years ago, and it held my attention. I was surprised Kelly Clarkson won. Just last year, I just knew that Chris Daughtry was going to win. Man, I was shocked when he was voted off and Taylor Hicks took the crown after a couple of weeks. I mean I was blown away! Daughtry should have won! You all know Daughtry should have won!

Now, here we are in Season 6 waiting for Ryan Seacrest to tally the votes and hold us in suspense until the very last commercial break is paid for (while he silently prays the next female he interviews is not taller than him).

Is it me? Or did American Idol become boring? I was somewhat interested in this season when Sanjaya was getting a lot of ridicule from the media over his hair design. Since Sanjaya was voted off, I really do not care who wins or loses. I mean I do not even know Blake or Jordan's last name, or what obnoxious comment Simon Cowell stated last...who cares?

I guess I am getting old, for I miss the days when singers and bands were not manufactured to the degree of American Idol. What about going against the grain of the public and slowly winning their support...like Elvis did.

In reality, I will probably check out American Idol's Season Six finale tonight...But I have a new plan: I will wait until the last 60-90 seconds of the program before I turn it on. That way Ryan Seacrest cannot waste anymore of my time and I can say, "Chris Cole OUT!"

Chris, the article is very good. The subject matter? Hmmmm...I'm not a fan of American Idol but I am a fan of yours! I adore your sense of humour. I'm sure the Mrs. does as well. Keep at it and send in the articles!!

The best singer is already gone, Melinda Doolittle, and I'm with you. I will watch, but there is nothing left to enjoy. Beatbox boy or teenager? Sanjaya did add something to the show, he was the one little girls loved and the rest of us loved disliking, but at least it was worthy of mention.
