Now, I know I can win in the so-called game of life. I can defeat all of my demons and live a prosperous existence. I know this because Flavor Flav did it. When the chips were down, he came out on top. The odds were stacked against him; fifteen years in abyss with six kids and fourteen ex-wives and his rap albums not selling (enough to support all the hungry mouths). He did it! Thanks going to VH1's Flavor of Love.
Oh, and there was Strange Love. Remember this gem in educational t.v. history? This was the program that brought us Flavor Flav (before his Flavor of Love show) with Bridgitte Nielson (Sly Stallon's ex). The show was built on a series of dates between the mismatched couple (Nielson standing over 6'1" and Flavor at 5"7") in order to see if they would marry or not. Thank God they did not! (I tremble at the thought of their possible child). Oh, and let us not forget the Shakespearean writing coupled with their liquor Olympics. The show was not to be missed.
What has become of American audiences? Why do they watch this...stuff? I mean this is Flavor Flav and VH1 racked up its highest viewing audience with season 1 of Flavor of Love, something like two million viewers. Women actually compete for Flavor Flav's "romantical" (a term he coined) attention! Attention ladies, he was semi-famous fifteen years ago! And even then, one had to read the back of a c.d. cover to see his name or watch M.T.V. late at night to even know he existed.
Shoot, even Chris Knight (aka Peter Brady) whose popularity sky rocketed and plummeted in the 1970's landed a VH1 series (My fair Brady) on the same channel along with Flavor Flav. Chris actually looks better than he did in the seventies, as compared to Flavor and his crusty feet. In Chris' series, he is pursued by America's Top Model (season 1 winner), Adrianne Brody, all the way to the alter. Yes, it was somewhat entertaining, but it was demeaning to Adrianne and women in general; she had to fight with Peter Brady to get him to marry her while putting up with his schizophrenic-like attitude.
I guess I am questioning the morals and attitudes of today's woman...Why are they pursuing these people and lowering their standards while appearing on national television? What happened to the good old days when Richie Cunningham from Happy Days sought the corrupt advise from an Arthur Fonzerelli about asking women out?
Yes, I can win at life. Yes, I can. If a fifty year old half-assed rapper and a fifty year old washed-up child T.V. actor can do it, so can I.

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)Very well written! I do like your style. I believe Flava hides his true identity, what we see on VH1 is a well rehearsed acting job. Your writing is dead on! Keep it coming.
Ha Ha I enjoyed your article. Flavor is an idiot, but unfortunately he has more money than you or I.
Nicely put! I like your phrasing and symmetry.
This article was very humorous and sarcastic in slant. I liked it!
